Does this sound&nbsp;familiar? Well, you\u2019re not alone. And there\u2019s nothing wrong with your application.&nbsp;But there are definitely some issues with where you\u2019re sending it.<\/p>\n<p>An article I recently read states that the success rate for finding a job on Monster is about 3 percent, and that the numbers are similar for CareerBuilder and other large job posting sites. So how do people find jobs then? Well, the article goes on to cite a large-scale survey that provides the answer to this question. The survey states that <strong>35%&nbsp;of jobs are filled by with-in company hires. Here\u2019s the breakdown for external&nbsp;hires:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>30% &#8211; referrals\/networking<\/li>\n<li>20% &#8211; through the company website<\/li>\n<li>12% &#8211; Internet advertising<\/li>\n<li>8% &#8211; direct sourcing (i.e. corporate recruiting)<\/li>\n<li>3% &#8211; college recruiting<\/li>\n<li>3% &#8211; career fairs and open houses<\/li>\n<li>3% &#8211; print advertising<\/li>\n<li>3% &#8211; outside recruitment agencies<\/li>\n<li>3% &#8211; contract-to-hire<\/li>\n<li>15% &#8211; other<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So what is the take-away message here? Well, these numbers clearly show that&nbsp;there is not one foolproof path to finding a job. The key to being successful, then,&nbsp;is to cast a wide net and spread&nbsp;your profile across as many&nbsp;platforms, social media accounts,&nbsp;and networks as possible.
